Creating a pouch sewing pattern can be a fun and creative project. Here's a simple step-by-step guide to make a basic rectangular pouch with a zipper closure. You can modify the dimensions and embellishments as you like to customize your pouch.
Materials You'll Need:
- Fabric (cotton, canvas, or any fabric of your choice)
- Zipper (8-10 inches or as per your preference)
- Fabric scissors
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Iron and ironing board
- Pins
- Ruler
- Fabric marker or chalk
Step 1: Measure and Cut Your Fabric: Determine the size of your pouch. For a basic rectangular pouch, you'll need two pieces of fabric, one for the front and one for the back. Here's a suggested size:
- Front piece: 11 inches in width x 7 inches in height
- Back piece: 11 inches in width x 7 inches in height
You can adjust the dimensions according to your preferences. Use a ruler and fabric marker to measure and mark the fabric, then cut along the marked lines.
Step 2: Prepare the Zipper: If your zipper is longer than the width of the fabric, you'll need to shorten it. Stitch a few times across the zipper teeth at your desired length and then cut off the excess.
