Here's a simple sewing pattern to create an 11+ ball.
Materials needed:
- Fabric of your choice (preferably cotton or felt)
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- Fiberfill or stuffing material
- Marker or fabric pen
- Pins
- Optional: Decorative materials like ribbons or buttons for embellishment
Instructions:
- Start by drawing two identical circles on your fabric. You can use a compass or any circular object with a diameter of your choice. For an 11+ ball, make sure the circles have a diameter of at least 11 inches.
- Cut out the circles carefully using scissors. These will be the front and back panels of your ball.
- Place the two fabric circles together, with the right sides facing each other. Secure them with pins along the edges to keep them in place.
- Thread your needle with a thread color that matches your fabric or a contrasting color for decorative purposes. Tie a knot at the end of the thread.
- Starting from any point along the edge of the circles, sew them together using a basic running stitch. A running stitch is created by passing the needle in and out of the fabric, creating evenly spaced stitches. Leave a small opening (about 2-3 inches) unsewn for stuffing.
- Once you have sewn most of the way around the circles, stop and stuff the ball with fiberfill or your chosen stuffing material. Fill it firmly to give the ball a round shape.
- After stuffing, continue sewing the remaining open portion of the circles together, closing the ball. Double knot the thread and cut off any excess.
- You now have a basic 11+ ball. You can leave it as is or add embellishments like ribbons or buttons to make it more decorative if desired.
Remember, this is a basic pattern, and you can modify it to suit your preferences. Feel free to experiment with different fabrics, sizes, and embellishments to create unique and personalized 11+ balls.
